For a six mile swim, concentrate on time. Spend time horizontal as much as possible, to prep your back for what the 6 miler will require of you. If there is no time limit, or a generous one, you'll be fine.

For my first 10K, the max I did was 10,000 yards in the pool about 2 weeks before the swim. It was brutal, but what it prepared me for was up to 3.5 hours horizontal. The 10,000 yards took me something like 3:08, and the 10K ended up taking me 2:35 (it was in a river with a nice push), so I was good.

For the 10 miler, the max I did was 3:40 in the pool 2 weeks prior. The 10 miler took me 4:44 and I felt great. In fact I felt like I could swim more.

Good luck! You'll do great!IronMikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10524578496591502210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26664842.post-90655771373535093272015-10-03T18:49:02.406-04:002015-10-03T18:49:02.406-04:00Not as far as you've come! ♥Not as far as you've come! ♥The Joy of Home with Martha Ellenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02912198511168813613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26664842.post-34854188476468300452015-10-03T18:48:20.053-04:002015-10-03T18:48:20.053-04:00Not as far as you've come! ♥Not as far as you've come! ♥The Joy of Home with Martha Ellenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02912198511168813613noreply@blogger.com
